Supports for Families 

The Government of Ontario has created a fund which parents can apply to aid with covering the cost of buying materials to support children learning. Parents who are eligible will receive a one-time payment per child:

  1. $200 for children ages 0-12 years old
  2. $250 for children ages 0-21 with special needs

This program is available for all parents–regardless of financial status.

Canada Child Benefit 

The Government of Canada has announced those who are receiving the Canada Child Benefit, will receive up to an extra $330 per child for 2019-2020.

Increase to GST/HST Tax Credit 

The Government of Canada will be issuing a one time supplementary payment for GST/HST Tax credit. Payments will be issued on April 9, 2020. Calculations for this one time supplement will be calculated with your 2018 tax information. Learn More

Meals on Wheels 

Meals on Wheels London provides service to adults with disabilities and seniors (55+) in need of nutritional support. They assist those who need short term (caregiver relief, recuperation, seasonal) or long term assistance.

Legal Aid Supports for Domestic Violence

During the COVID-19 crisis, LAO has waived all legal and financial eligibility for domestic violence survivors. This accommodation will remain in effect until further notice. Click here for further information. 

Low Income Energy Assistance Program 

COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program: Applications Begin July 13 

“On June 1, 2020, the Government of Ontario confirmed that it is making $9 million available for the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program (CEAP), to support residential customers struggling to pay their energy bills as a result of the COVID-19 emergency.

CEAP provides a one time, on-bill credit to eligible residential electricity and natural gas customers to help them catch up on their energy bills and resume regular payments. The on-bill CEAP credit covers half of the charges that are past due, up to a pre-set maximum amount.

The program is being delivered by electricity distributors, gas distributors and unit sub-meter providers (USMPs). Utilities and USMPs will begin accepting applications for CEAP on July 13, 2020.”
